Wycombe Women’s Aid recently enjoyed the hospitality of High Wycombe Fire Station as part of Bucks Fire and Rescue Service’s White Ribbon 16 Days of Action.
On 27th November, workers, women and children visited the fire station for a tour of the building, a look at the fire engines and the opportunity to talk to Bucks Fire and Rescue workers about fire safety prevention. We were treated to some delicious refreshments and there were selection boxes and goodie bags for the children. There was also some unexpected excitement when a real life 999 call came in while we were mid-tour of the fire engines. This gave us the opportunity to witness first hand the fire fighters descending to the engines, putting on their kit and driving out of the station, all within their time limit of 60 seconds.
It was a lovely event and we would like to thank the fire station, and in particular Anna and Marie (pictured below), for their very warm welcome and for their hospitality. We are already looking forward to next year!
